Why Mike Huckabee Won Big in Iowa

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord"

Psalm 33:12

Dear Family and Friends,

While I have not received my Christmas present yet, in case you just missed it, Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, bucking the Republican Establishment and the liberal media, won yesterday's Iowa Republican Caucus by a large margin over former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Huckabee received over 35% of the vote to Romney's 25%.

Now, there are a lot of reasons why Mike Huckabee is surging in the polls within the Republican Party. Huckabee's devout Evangelical Christian faith is a key factor, as pro-life American Evangelicals make up much of the grass roots foundation of the Republican Party.

Another determining factor in Mike Huckabee's amazing rise in American politics in recent months, is his down home country charm and extremely likable personality. As Governor Huckabee said on Jay Leno's show a couple of nights ago, "Most Americans want a president that looks more like the guy they work next to than the guy that just laid him off."

Mike Huckabee has also demonstrated that he is an extremely intelligent and articulate voice for the common man and people of faith who hold their Christian and Traditional Family values to be a top priority.

Now, Governor Huckabee's stunning surge and dramatic win in Iowa has many of the Country Club Republican Establishment types fuming, Mitt Romney campaigned very dirty against Mike and many Republican media personalities like Rush Limbaugh and George Will are now on the war path against Governor Mike, but I am not impressed with their ugly attacks on Mike's policies and character and many Evangelicals and social conservatives do not like to be told what to do and who to vote for.

As a life long pro-life Republican, I have often felt very uncomfortable with the GOP Establishment that attempts to garner the Evangelical vote every election cycle, only to abandon us and dump us at the altar after we have voted them into power.

There are many Evangelicals across the country that are tired of being over looked and condescended to. We Evangelicals know who we are and we know that, united together we have a powerful voice to be heard in American life and politics. We want to see the end of Roe vs. Wade and a return to family values that has made American the greatest country in the history of the world.

I for one, despite the Republican establishment's and the Hollywood liberal elites attacks on Mike Huckabee, am excited that a man with my family values is doing great, despite being outspent 20 to 1 in these primaries. Just three months ago, Governor Mike Huckabee was tracking single digits in many polls only to come out of nowhere to be the man to beat in 2008's Republican Primaries. Win or lose, Mike Huckabee is my man and I am praying that he will ride this wave all the way to the White House.

I love you all, Sincerely in Jesus Christ Our Lord,

Ed Enochs
